From 1967 onwards, Konrad Lueg increasingly reduced his own artistic work and developed a program for the Fischer exhibition space in Düsseldorf, which he had founded with his wife Dorothee Fischer. In this context, Konrad Lueg’s connection to the London artist duo Gilbert & George became apparent when he invited them to an exhibition in 1970. Under the title Grüsse von Gilbert und George (Greetings from Gilbert and George), Konrad Lueg contributed an envelope printed with “VON KONRAD LUEG” to the rolling cabinet En Bloc (EB20). The envelope contains Gilbert & George’s official business card, complete with a printed emblem and their artistic motto Art for All, which is included as part of the address in Fournier Street in London. The business card also features a greeting from the two artists: “Best wishes from Gilbert + George” is handwritten in red on the card.
