Print by Vlado Martek. A drawn map of the Balkan region. The countries are in red and their capitals are labeled with names from Shakespeare's plays.

In his literary-fictional cartography, Vlado Martek gives the countries of Southeast Europe the names of Shakespeare plays – Croatia is Lear, Serbia is Macbeth, Bosnia is Falstaff, Macedonia is Romeo, and Bulgaria is Richard II. The Shakespearean drama of the Balkan region (red) is surrounded by black regions labeled with terms such as psychoanalysis (Austria), linguistics (Hungary), anthropology (Ukraine), philosophy (Moldova), ethics (Turkey), and aesthetics (Italy). Martek is considered the leading representative of visual poetry in Croatia. His drawings and objects are characterized by subtle humor.
