The large-format photograph PFM-1 and others is Ayşe Erkmen’s contribution to the print portfolio Love It or Leave It (EB66). It shows a round, elongated object with a kind of handle and pointed prongs. The photograph was printed in three versions, each with a different background in the primary colors blue (1/55-55/55), yellow (I/XXXV-XXXV/XXXV) and red (AP).
The title of the work provides information about the actual nature of what is depicted: PFM-1 is the name of a specific type of landmine. Erkmen has repeatedly taken up this thematic complex in different variations and media since the mid-1990s, for example in the video installation PFM-1 and others (EB67). For the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen in 1997, she created the Edition Minen, various porcelain sculptures with green glaze, which are modeled on different types of landmines. For the photograph PFM-1 and others, Erkmen stages one of these porcelain mines, the model POMZ-2, in the form of a classic product photograph.
