Slogan is the artist’s ironic commentary on the sometimes bizarre manifestations of postmodern “wokeness.” The term “political correctness” was neatly written in calligraphy and then embroidered by hand onto a white linen cloth, but misspelled. By subsequently correcting the mistake and adding the missing “t” in “correcness” with red thread in a schoolteacher-like manner, Kozłowski draws attention to the loss of meaning that occurs when words are misused or used in the wrong context. According to the artist, this applies above all to political statements and slogans as well as the rhetoric of the public media, which “influences private language and leads to confusion in our perception of reality.” The presentation of the embroidery on linen in a wooden box specially made by the artist underscores the ironic character of the edition.
