Time Machine

Like her previous works, Alicja Kwade’s third multiple represents an alteration of our given reality and temporality. As the title Time Machine suggests, the work aims to transport its buyers to a different (seasonal) time. Leaves collected in autumn on a date and at a time of one’s choosing are stored in a canvas box so that they can be distributed as naturally as possible in a room during another season, from spring to summer, as if the wind had blown the leaves there by chance. The amount of autumn leaves collected depends on the dimensions of the room; the final installation is certified by the artist through photographic documentation.
