Screen print by Wolf Vostell shows a black and white close-up of Vostell's face, tilted to one side. Above it are handwritten notes by Vostell, printed in black lacquer, containing key biographical data and locations of the artist, such as RHEIN 1932, LOWER MANHATTAN 1963

For the special edition of the publication Grafik des Kapitalistischen Realismus (EB31), Wolf Vostell realized the screen print Selbstbildnis (Self portrait). The sheet shows a black and white close-up of Vostell’s face, tilted to one side, as a screen print in black. Above it are handwritten notes by Vostell, printed in black lacquer, containing key biographical data and the artist’s whereabouts. Some of the notes refer to concrete structures of Vostell’s face, turning it into an imaginary map on which the courses of the Rhine, the East River or the Hudson River intermingle with Vostell’s biography.
